Some say music is dead. 💀 Kafkanautica Orbiting the Pop Machine says otherwise. We like music, but not just any music; the type of avant garde indie that obliterates the fragile membrane of traditional genres and crawls out of the wreckage metamorphosed by static and glitter. Distortion is our love language. When it comes to music, we crave the sweet stink of discordance that somehow coalesces and santers its way into more than the sum of its parts. Kafkanautica is our humble attempt at a digital zine for the disco ball philosophers and synth romantics among us, centered on albums that temporarily melt away the pain of living in this modern apocalyptic hellscape where, more often than not, the modern pop machine force feeds us regurgitated cookie-cutter mediocrity. This site is a ⛩️ digital shrine ⛩️ to the holy chaos of gonzo sound; a love letter to pop's glitchy and abandoned children that might not otherwise be spotlighted. It focuses on presenting experimental post-punk, electronic, rock, pop, and other albums alongside the messy geniuses who Frankensteined their emotions into circuitry. Here, we orbit the albums on the peripheries that shimmer, ooze, and self-destruct. For anyone who believes music can still have soul, come, and won't you orbit the pop machine with us? 🚀
